Salto xs4 lock blinks a red LED light five times and green once, and the door doesn’t open
We have a Salto xs4 lock, which blinks red LED light five times, then green once, and the door doesn’t open; even though we’ve changed the batteries, the problem persists.
Then also, the same type XS4 blinks a red LED light and then green light, and the door opens.
We’ve changed the batteries though our issue is to clear that red LED light.

To clear the red LED light, you may need to address the issue the lock is indicating. The first step is identifying what the red light means. If changing the batteries has not helped, it may be necessary to reset the lock or consult with a Salto support technician to determine if the lock may have a hardware issue that needs to be addressed.
Given these possibilities, here are some steps to address your issue:
- Reset the Lock: Follow the lock’s reset procedure outlined in the user manual. This might help in resolving minor software glitches.
- Check the Door Mechanism: Ensure the door and the lock are correctly aligned, and the lock is not encountering any resistance when attempting to engage the mechanism. Misalignments can cause difficulties in locking and unlocking.
- Contact Salto Systems Support: If the issue persists, the best action is to contact Salto Systems’ technical support or the vendor who supplied the lock. They will be able to provide more specific troubleshooting based on the model of your lock and the exact symptoms it’s experiencing.
