How to make the Kaba lock on the door only lock and open with a handle? No need code and key card.
We have a Kaba lock at Bank of America and they are wanting the door where they have a Kaba lock to be a regular handle. So the door opens with the turn of a handle (so that we are on the same page).
Is there a way to make the Kaba lock on the door keyless and codeless, or do we need to remove and put on new hardware? We have the code for that Kabba lock as well.

The Kaba lock you mentioned is an electronic hotel door lock typically equipped with a keypad for code entry or a card reader. It’s designed to provide secure access control, which is why it’s often used in banks and other businesses that require high security.
Modifying a Kaba lock to operate as a standard handle door without a code or key is possible, but it would significantly reduce the door’s security. It might not be advisable given that the location is a Bank of America.
That said, if you still want to proceed, there are two options:
1. Permanently Unlocked Mode: Some models of Kaba locks can be programmed to stay in an “always unlocked” mode. The door can be opened by turning the handle without a code or keycard. However, this also means that the door won’t lock automatically and must be manually locked if needed.
Please refer to the user manual or consult with Kaba support for specific instructions related to your lock model. This may not be ideal for a bank, as it could allow unrestricted access.
2. Replace the Lock: If changing the functionality is not an option or doesn’t meet your needs, you might need to replace the Kaba lock with a standard door handle. You would need to consult a professional locksmith to ensure proper installation and not damage the door or frame.
Please consider the security implications of these changes. It’s always a good idea to consult with a security expert or locksmith before making any significant changes to a door lock, especially in a high-security environment like a bank.
Before you proceed with either option, make sure to consult with a security professional. Bypassing the security features of a Kaba lock can greatly reduce your facility’s security. You should also check the local laws and regulations, as well as the policies of your organization, to ensure compliance when changing door lock mechanisms.
Finally, I recommend reaching out to Kaba’s customer service directly. They would have the most up-to-date and accurate information regarding their products, and they can provide guidance specific to your lock model.
