Smart lock has gone offline after changing Wi-Fi network name and password
I changed my wifi name and password, and it seemed like the lock was working, but I just got a message that it has been offline for the last 24 hours.
Now I can’t figure out how to get it back online. I am 3 hours away from the location it is at, so I can’t go there. Is this something I can do from anywhere?
Also, the lock icon is green and unlocked…I know I locked it before I left.

If your smart lock has gone offline after a change in your Wi-Fi network’s name (SSID) and password, it’s because the lock can’t connect to the network anymore. This is a common issue when changing network details and affects all devices previously connected to your Wi-Fi.
Unfortunately, in most cases, you cannot reconfigure your smart lock’s Wi-Fi settings remotely. This security measure prevents unauthorized people from tampering with your lock. Here’s what you usually need to do:
- Be Physically Near the Lock: Most smart locks require you to be within Bluetooth range to reconfigure Wi-Fi settings. This is typically within a few meters or feet of the lock.
- Reconfigure Wi-Fi Settings: Use the lock’s associated app on your smartphone to change the Wi-Fi network details. You’ll need to enter the new network name and password.
Regarding the lock showing as green and unlocked, the status you’re seeing might be outdated if the lock is offline. The lock’s actual status could be different.
If you cannot go to the lock’s location, you might want to contact someone nearby who can help, such as a neighbor, a property manager, or a friend. You can walk them through reconfiguring the Wi-Fi settings on the lock.
Always remember that a secure lock is crucial for the safety of your property. If you have any ongoing issues, resolving them as soon as possible is important. Try to arrange for someone to check on your property if you can’t do it yourself.
