The Hornbill Smart Lock is an electronic keyless door lock device that uses your smartphone to lock and unlock your door. It’s straightforward to install, and you can use it with any deadbolt you already have.

But like all other smart door locks, Hornbill Smart Lock will also have various problems during use. This article will help you solve various Hornbill smart lock problems and give solutions.

Hornbill Smart Lock is not locking.

If you’re having problems with your lock not locking, it’s likely a connectivity issue.

  • Ensure your phone or tablet is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the Hornbill smart lock.
  • If you have multiple devices on your network and are having trouble connecting to the Hornbill app, try disabling all other devices from accessing it simultaneously. Also, check for known issues with your specific operating system (iOS or Android).
  • Ensure your Hornbill smart lock has power by checking that its light is green when plugged in.
  • Make sure that you have the correct PIN or password set. If you have entered the incorrect PIN or password three times, your Hornbill smart lock will be locked for five minutes.
  • Check that there is a green light on the bottom of your device. The green light will flash when it is connected to Wi-Fi, and it will also flash when it detects motion in front of it.

Hornbill smart lock is not responding.

If your Hornbill smart lock is not responding, there are a few things you can do to fix it:

  • Check if the battery has run dry. If so, replace the batteries and try again. Also, you can use a power bank. A micro USB can directly power the lock and activate the keyboard. Charging it via the ports under the lock
  • Resetting or restarting your device may help resolve some issues as well. All you need to do is hold the reset button for about 10 seconds until you hear, “Please enter the initialization password.” Now that everything’s been reset, try connecting again with your phone!

If none of the above worked, it might be time to contact customer support.

Hornbill smart lock is not unlocking.

  • First, please ensure your Hornbill smart lock has enough power; otherwise, change it to new batteries.
  • Is the Hornbill smart lock connected to your phone? If so, check whether the Hornbill app runs in the background or is closed. Also, ensure your phone’s Bluetooth and location services are enabled.
  • Make sure that you have selected the right door in the Hornbill app.

Hornbill smart lock battery is low.

The Hornbill smart lock uses 4 AA batteries. If the battery is low, the hornbill app will display a low battery warning, and when you try to unlock your door, you may hear an alert sound from your hornbill lock. Remove the old 4 AA batteries and insert four new ones to fix this issue.

If your Hornbill smart lock is making a beeping sound, it could mean that the battery needs to be changed. Ensure the battery is installed correctly, and try replacing it if the problem persists.

Hornbill Smart Lock is not working.

If your Hornbill smart lock isn’t working, here are some things to check:

  • Is the app on your phone or tablet? You’ll need a Wi-Fi connection and cellular data enabled for the app to work. If you’re using a mobile device, make sure it’s connected to the same network as your Hornbill smart lock.
  • Make sure that there’s no physical obstruction between the sensor and its receiver antennae located at each end of its white plastic strip located inside of its main body – this will cause problems with communication between both components, which could result in disconnection issues when trying various combinations like unlocking doors etcetera.

Hornbill Smart Lock is not pairing.

If your Hornbill smart lock is not pairing, this is commonly caused by the app on your phone. There are several reasons why it may not connect to the lock:

  • The battery in your smartphone is too low to establish a connection with the lock. Try charging it or connecting it to a power source and try again.
  • Your device may be too far away from the Hornbill smart lock for them to communicate with each other. Make sure that both devices are within range of each other and try again, but don’t go beyond 50 feet (15 meters), as Bluetooth signals will start getting weaker.
  • If you’re still having trouble pairing your Hornbill smart locks with your phone after trying both methods above, contact their customer service team via email or phone call for help troubleshooting this issue.

Hornbill smart lock installation

To install your Hornbill lock, first, please remove your old lock parts:

  • Unscrew the faceplate from your existing deadbolt.
  • Use a screwdriver to remove the screws from both sides of the deadbolt’s back plate and then remove it by sliding it off the cylinder and turning it 45 degrees counterclockwise (this will be different with every lock).

Insert the latch and ensure it is parallel to the door face.

Install Plate:

  • Hole’s Diameters using the manes to drill holes as guide 3/8″ Fasten Smart Door Lock
  • Chisel 1 mm-2mm deep along the plate outline to allow the plate to be aligned with the door frame.
  • Insert the plastic lock groove and the strike plate into the door jamb, tightening with wood screws.

Install Keypad

  • Install lever into inner keypad plate.
  • Place IC wire, latch link bar, and dou­ble-screws through the holes on the deadbolt, as the picture on the right shows.
  • Pass the IC wire and the latch link bar to the mounting plate. Use one flat screw to secure with the keypad double-screw bolt. Use two flat screws to connect the mounting plate to the latch.

Identify Door Handing

  • The door is “Left-handle” if the hinges are on the left side of the door.
  • Whereas the door is “Right-han­dle” if the hinges are on the right side of the door.

Install Receiver Module

Please remove the battery cover. (Press the spring button with the sharp object and push the lid up first, then push it up.)

Connect the IC wires normally.

Use two short flat screws to tighten the receiver module’s inner battery groove. There is also a screw slot under the battery box.

Insert Battery and Install Back Battery Cover:

Insert 4pc (AA) l.SV alkaline batteries and slide the battery cover back onto the receiver module.

Remarks:
( 1 ) Alkaline batteries are recommended to stabilize the power supply; if you don’t use alkaline, battery performance will be significantly reduced.
( 2) All settings will be retained in the memory even if the batteries are completely dead. A micro USB can directly power the lock and activate the keyboard. They are charging it via the ports under the lock.

Hornbill smart lock reset

If your smart hornbill lock is not working, generally, you can try resetting the smart lock to make it work again. And you can reset your Hornbill smart lock in two ways:

  1. Take one of the batteries to power off the lock for about 5 seconds. Then, put in the battery, emphasize the lock, and press the button for about 10 seconds. Once you hear “Please enter the initialization password’: please enter “000#” to confirm. You will receive a voice prompt after resetting successfully.
  2. Press the reset button in the back panel for 1 O second. Once you hear “Please enter the initialization password’: please enter “000#” to confirm. You will receive a voice prompt after resetting successfully.

How to program Hornbill smart lock?

Before you program your Hornbill smart lock, please make sure you have installed the smart lock correctly and insert the 4 AA batteries.

  • Download the “TTLock” mobile app; search for this app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
  • Register and log in to the Account.
  • On your mobile device: – Turn on Bluetooth- Open the Hornbill app – Sign in using your username password – Follow the steps to connect the Hornbill smart lock via Wi-Fi or cellular data.
  • Add the hornbill samrt lock to TTLock app.  Once the intelligent lock is added, it will become the admin account for the lock.
  • Add user passwords, cards, or fingerprints to this lock.
